Food for golfers

In this post we are going to talk about the importance of food for golfers.

In golf, as in other sports, food is a key for its correct practice. It is very important to distinguish the daily diet from the specific food for our golf day.

 

We must keep in mind that this is a time consuming sport and one of the aspects to consider is the hydration, having to resort to isotonic drinks when the play time exceeds one hour, if necessary.

 

Daily diet

Choosing a healthy and a balanced diet is very necessary, as this would help us preventing injuries when we practice this sport.

 

We must eat fish 4 times a week, and avoid sweets or industrial pastries; 5 pieces of fruits/vegetables are essential and choosing non-fat dairy products. Regarding meat and legumes, we should eat it 3 times per week.

 

Specific food for a golf day

Due to good weather, in our golf course in Murcia, and other courses around, it is really hot; so hydration is a very important key as mentioned before.

 

On the other hand, concentration is very important and, a way to achieve it, is a correct diet the day we are going to play golf; for example, eating products which give us rapid absorption sugars, as fruits or juices, among them we must highlight the banana, which contains a lot of potassium.

 

Here you can find one example of a recommended diet for the day you are coming to our golf course in Murcia:

 

- For the breakfast prior to exercise, we would have a toast with 90 grams of ham.

- For the main meal we should eat a boiled potato with chicken breast and a salad in which we would add olive oil.

- For the snack time we would eat fruit, dried fruits and black chocolate.

 

We cannot forget that all meals will be accompanied by water or a hydrating drink, as orange juice or lemonade.
