Physical exercises for golfers
Today in Roda Golf & Beach Resort 's blog we are going to talk about somethingdisregarded by many golfers, but which is very necessary to deal with before playing in our golf course in Murcia. It's the physical exercises for golfers, their importance and the benefits we can obtain if we practice them.
Before practicing any physical exercise, we must think about what goals we want to achieve, why we are doing it and whether we are practicing it correctly. So, this training and perfection of your body must be understood as something that you can achieve together with the improvement of your technique at our golf academy.
What are the benefits in training for golf?
First of all, the practice of physical exercise help us prevent any injury, which is one of the most important problems for athletes and also for many golfers, who suffer injuries because of the lack of exercise before playing in our golf course in Murcia.
On the other hand, we know that playing golf requires strength and flexibility; if we train properly we would find the way to increase your shot distance, essential in any cases and for improving your short game.
What kind of physical exercises can we practice?
Here you will find 3 different exercises to improve your musculature and some useful exercises for playing golf.
Dumbbell Bench Chest Press
This is the perfect exercise for training your chest. We have to lie down on a bench with ourback straight and with both feet firmly on the ground, always keeping the backbone straight and a dumbbell in each hand.
When we are in this position, we have to pull back and down the shoulder blades. Meanwhile we have to hold firmly the dumbbells, always with the palm of the hand facing up and the elbows fully extended.
Then, we will put down the dumbbellstogether until the middle of the chest-high and we will put it up straightening out the elbows.
For practicing this exercise you have to lieface down with your hands behind your head, in this position put up your chest until you start feeling a little contraction in the lower area of your back, return to the original position and repeat it several times; repeat for 8 reps in 3 series will be enough.
As we know, feet are a very important part of golf, specially its twist and we cannot forget to practice this exercise, for that, stand up keeping a dumbbell in each hand, with the palms facing your body; once in this position put up your arms toward the shoulders and turn the upper part of the body towards the left and keeping the back straight with the dumbbell at the shoulder high. Come back to the original position and then turn your body towards the right. This exercise must be made in 8 repetitions and 3 series.
How long do we have to practice these exercises?
Exercises explained here are illustrative and you can add many more every day, but as we have explained at the beginning, keep in mind the goal is to achieve more strength, flexibility... in case you are looking for improving your skills we recommend you to come to our golf academy.
Regarding the time, it depends on the stated goal, when you are coming to the golf course or if it is a competition. As these are easy exercises you can practice them at home or at our gym inside the golf course.
